"Radish"

Ride on "Radish", the ex Caltex people mover once used on the original
Urangan Pier when it was much longer. Named after a cartoon horse
which was always hard to start and always came last.

This unit was used to ferry workmen  and equipment along the Urangan pier
where petrol was brought in on ships.
It was then pumped to tanks in Elizabeth St.

The pictures show the poor condition of the unit before restoration.
It is now fully restored and operating.
Unfortunately Max Rook, our main "Radish"restorer, passed away recently.(15/07/2006)
The Memorial service was held in our Methodist Church on 19th July.
Max was one of natures gentlemen and will be greatly missed by us all.
In the six short months he was with us, he achieved great things.

Les Smith & Harold Collins now look after her.
